Download the Simple Life CD:
This project has been years in the making. Life, mostly good stuff, kept interrupting and most of these songs stayed neatly tucked away on various computers and drives. From time to time, I would go in, pull them up and listen, tweak, overhaul, change key, change tempo, re-write lyrics and so on. Finally, I gave myself a deadline and while I didn’t exactly meet it, I came close and put things in motion to create this collection.
I know almost everybody downloads one or two particular songs they like from dozens if not hundreds of websites or music distribution sites. But there is still a little old school in me that wanted to put an entire project together, examine and arrange the songs on the CD so they flow well.
I realize I am standing on the shoulders of all those I’ve come in contact with over the past years. There have been great writers, producers, players, and engineers that have left indelible impressions on me. I’m grateful for the fellowship and the sharing of wisdom and insight.
Thanks to all of you around the world who continually communicate and testify as to what God has done through some of my music in the past. I hope these new songs touch your lives.
I’m thankful for my long-time manager Mike Atkins, production assistant, Danya Clairmont and Camy McArdle at MAE and for my friends and family at Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston.
And special thanks to my wife, Megan, who has not only shown patience and kindness as I’ve ventured through this, sometimes frustrating process, but also encouragement and challenge. And to a little boy that came into our lives in 2014 and has brought more smiles and laughter than should be allowed, plus an indescribable, overwhelming sense of blessing. I thought I’d be able to work in the studio and he would sit quietly beside me with a book or a toy or something. But he is a curious fellow! There is nothing within his reach that he doesn’t want to explore. So more than once, I had to re-record a vocal or a guitar part so there wouldn’t be the sound of a little boy on the hunt for his next challenge. Heck, maybe I should have left all of that on here.
